L. CLIFFORD DAVIS


On February 15, 2025, the Honorable L. Clifford Davis passed away at the age of 100. Judge Davis was a pioneering leader and legendary figure not only in the legal profession but in the broader fight for justice and equality. He previously served as Of Counsel to the firm.


In 1955, following the United States Supreme Court's landmark decision in Brown v. Board of Education, Judge Davis filed the first school desegregation lawsuit in Texas. His tireless advocacy led to the desegregation of the Mansfield Independent School District and the Fort Worth Independent School District.


Throughout his career, Judge Davis broke racial barriers in  both the public and private sectors. After his election to the Criminal District Court, he continued his legacy of innovation and leadership by establishing the first drug diversion court in Tarrant County.


Judge Davis was true icon whose work changed the course of history in Tarrant County, the State of Texas, and our nation. His legacy of courage, justice, and service will endure for generations.
